This piece was done for a contest at the Danish 3D community 3dmaxer.dk with the theme The Silent Killer. I quickly decided that I wanted to do an alternative interpretation of the subject (which sadly meant no cool, dangerous and sneaky ninjas for my part). :) "the silent killer" focuses on a very silent killer that we all can be very sure will get us someday: Time. It is one of the things in life we can be completely certain of - it will not last forever. The old man in the picture is on the edge of life, reflecting upon his past. Sadly though, not all pass away of natural courses, but most do, and I wanted to show that in this piece. I worked pretty hard for about a month on this to get it done in time for the deadline. The image is composited, retouched and post-processed upon in Photoshop. Due to the deadline things like subtle hair strands on the old man's head and his sweater had to be painted in afterwards.

I’ve tried to create a calm atmosphere that suggests the harmony and peace of mind you get when there is a balance between the world outside and your intimate self. Modelled with Blender 2.43 and rendered with Yafray 0.0.9, my main difficulty was getting the right lighting in bots sides, given the long rendering times in Yafray. There is no postpro, apart from a little DOF-blur in the garden, that I applied over a mask created from Blender.

Mading in Blender 2.47. This is inspired in a lot of Orcas from Mexico Gulf, rare, do you? The Walle´s texture was whit UV Texture.

Based on the feeling of awe when one looks up into the big and beautiful night sky full of stars. The mystery and wonder of life's greatness. The piece is starring a little redhaired boy in pyjamas, looking fascinated up into the huge sky - at that moment realizing how small we all are compared to the world around us.

I did this entry in a little challenge over 2 months with the strange and mind boggling theme "Surreal Reality". "altruism" has a surrealistic touch to it and a deep message flowing through it as well. It depicts an in my opinion very important part of life, reality, in a surrealistic and symbolic way. Ultimately, it's up to the spectator what he/she feels it is about.
